How to use
- Drop a PDF, click to choose it, or paste it from the clipboard.
- Choose Text or Image or logo, then enter a mark or choose a PNG, JPG, or WebP logo.
- Set the layout, size, opacity, and angle; choose all pages, odd pages, even pages, or an exact list such as 1-3, 5.
- Select Add watermark and download. The original PDF remains unchanged.
Choose an opacity that leaves the page usable
A visible watermark is an overlay, not a redaction or a password. Start near the default 28% opacity for DRAFT, SAMPLE, or CONFIDENTIAL text and increase it only when the underlying page remains readable. A repeat pattern is harder to crop away than one corner mark, but it can cover more of the document, so use a smaller size or lower opacity for forms and reports.
Select individual pages without making a second PDF
“Choose pages” accepts one-based page numbers and inclusive ranges separated by commas: 1-3, 5, 8-10 marks pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, and 10. The tool rejects page 0, reversed ranges, and page numbers beyond the loaded PDF rather than silently applying the mark to a different page. Odd and even page options are useful for alternating document sets.
Text is added as a visible image layer
The tool renders watermark text to an image before placing it in the PDF. That keeps Korean, CJK, emoji, and symbols from depending on a PDF’s embedded fonts, but the watermark text will not appear in the PDF’s text-search or copy results. A transparent PNG is usually the cleanest logo source. The new PDF keeps the original page content and adds a layer above it; keep the original file if you may need an unmarked copy.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded when I add a watermark?
No. The PDF, text rendering, logo conversion, and saved result are processed in the browser on your device. This tool does not send the selected PDF or logo to a server.
Can I add a watermark to only some PDF pages?
Yes. Choose All, Odd, Even, or Choose pages. The custom field accepts comma-separated page numbers and ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-10; page numbers start at 1 and must be within the loaded PDF.
Can I use Korean or emoji in a PDF watermark?
Yes. Korean, other CJK scripts, emoji, and symbols are rendered into a visible image layer before being placed on the PDF, so they do not rely on the PDF’s installed fonts. The watermark text itself is not searchable or copyable PDF text.
What opacity should I use for a PDF watermark?
About 20% to 35% usually keeps a DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL mark visible without obscuring ordinary text. Use a lower value for dense documents and a higher value for a proof or sample that must remain obvious after printing.
Can a watermark prevent copying or sharing a PDF?
No. A visible watermark can communicate status, source, or intended recipient and discourage casual reuse, but it is not DRM or redaction. Keep the original PDF and use password protection or other access controls when those are required.
What PDF and image files can I use?
This tool accepts a readable PDF up to 100 MB. For an image watermark, use PNG, JPG, or WebP; transparent PNG files generally blend most cleanly. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before watermarking.
